iOS 6 can be Jailbroke Tethered on the iPad 2. As for updating to 5.1.1... that's not an option for you now since the Signing Window is closed and you do not have SHSH's for 5.1.1. You're only option for changing iOS versions is to go up to 6.0.

This is hell. Im gonna wait, this jailbreak has to wait for months, because ios 6 is too advanced.

Tether it now. Once the untethered jailbreak is out, the dev team will release a package in Cydia to make it untethered like the old Rocky Raccoon for iOS 5. At least you'll have something to work off until then with the tethered
