Deleting Photo Albums

How can I delete Photo Albums from my iPhone 4 ?

In the photo app -> edit (upper right corner) -> Hot the red circle toggle next to the offending album -> hit delete

On the iPhone 4 the edit facility will only allow me to create an additional New Album
And on iTunes there seems to be no facility to even see any photos on ones connected iPhone

I'm going to step aside for this one then. Still too new to the iDevice world to trouble shoot complex problems.
