Deleting Favorites in Contacts

Is there a way to delete someone as a favorite without deleting entire contact & re-entering contact info?

When you are in your "Favorites"....have you tried to press the "edit" and press the red circle to delete?

I just tried this and it didn't erase the contact from my contact list.

That may be my problem. How do I get " in favorites"? I assumed I would delete them by editing contacts. I don't get the red circle.
