Buffing Out Slight Scratches on iPhone Screen

Has anyone had any luck buffing out slight scratches on the screen of an iPhone 8? I have used cerium oxide power in the past to buff out scratches on the glass in my car.

Any other suggestions?

That would certainly remove the oleophobic coating plus any other coating on the screen.
