Hi there, I got given an iphone 4 for free from one of my friends, only thing wrong with it is that the screen is so badly cracked that all that shows up on it is random blue lines in a vertical direction.
The phone still turns on and off and charges normally, you can hear the clicking unlocking noise when you swipe your finger where the slider should be as well, so all seems to be working fine except that you cant see what you are doing.
Is there any easy way to fix this or would it have to be sent away and fixed by the manufacturer?

Thanks,
Sarah

If you send it back to Apple and the device is out of warranty, it'll cost you about $90 and about a month of your time IIRC.

There are DYI's as well if you're into self-fixing it. You'll need some tools (that you can get off of Amazon or eBay or about $5 or so), some time (not as much as a month+), and a bit of patience.

Alternatively, you can find someone to do it for you. They won't charge as much as Apple but most will guarantee or you money back. There are quite a few listings and such on Craigslist
