Battery heat up help

My iPhone 4 battery heats up like its on fire is that normal.

Try the following in this order: (Don't skip a step. Don't go to the next step till you test the previous step)
1) Reboot.
2) Back it up and do a full restore.
3) Do a complete data wipe and start over.
4) Replace the battery.
5) Take it to Apple.

Wouldn't changing the battery void the warranty
