What's new

Atomic Industries is a Supporting Vendor!

Can't wait to see all the pics when you guys get your cases in. These things look wicked!

I have tried the element case and had awful luck with it as most others have. Why would your case give out any different results? They are made from the same material and everything about them is basically the same. I am not trying to be rude, just asking a simple question.

Taken from a post earlier in the thread as i asked the sane question.

"We precision engineered our case not to require rubber linings or bulky sponges that may or may not work. We have a thinner side wall, lower profile, and smaller windows designed around customer feed back for stealthier look. Our logo is tastefully placed, and not over done. Ours is lighter using 7075 grade aluminum."

This case is just like the vapor case but I like this even more, love the cutout at the bottom of the case compare to the cutout of the vapor just a rectagle shape cutout and this is $10 cheaper than the vapor. Only downside is there's not much option for the shipping. I was just about to order a while ago after seeing the Fedex shipping fee to the Philippines it's a whooping $82 WOW!!! It's even more expensive than the case! That's insane I really want one! too bad its impractical if I'll get one and pay more than the cost of the case just for the shipping. PLEASE AT LEAST PROVIDE MORE OPTION FOR THE SHIPPING!!

I had the same problem until I actually asked the guy from Atomic. He sorted me out with USPS $28 shipping to the UK, as I wasn't going to spend $82 on shipping.

James is the guys name and he will likely reply to this thread at some point.

I keep getting a Unni answering my emails. I just want a tracking number for mine. I have asked 3 times and no luck or it shipped this day, than changes mind on next email. I really want to like these guts and write a good review. He said at one point I would have it Monday, than it did not come, tomorrow is the next day said to show. Let's see if it does.

I'll write a review when I get it. But right now I just want to know what is going on. If atomic wants to check on order 1023 and email me back that would be awesome!

I was starting to think the same thing. When I was looking to buy one of these my emails would be answered within the hour. Since I sent them a load of money my 2 emails since haven't been answered by anyone, nothing....

Considering I purchased one of these cases a whole week ago now I would of expected more, actually I would of expected to see it on my door step by now.

I did receive an email a couple of days ago from PayPal that says some kind of USPS electronic shipping thing has been set up, and I have been provided with a tracking number. But on further inspection it would appear that this is just something you can print out yourself from within PayPal. United States Postal Service according to them haven't even received my package yet, and as such according to them hasn't even been sent! Check the message on their page when I click the link I was provided:

"The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on September 13, 2010 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later."

So it's been a week since I paid and the only response I've received is from paypal/USPS who say that someone 'intends' to send me my goods!? Outrageous really.

So if my numbers are right, on day 1 I paid for the case I wanted, it then took 5 days from then for Atomic cases to inform USPS that my package 'might' be with them soon, after 7 days USPS say they haven't received anything and obviously neither have I.

I quote James from Atomic on page 1 of this thread "customer service that will respond promptly"

It's fair to say I'm a bit pissed off right now.

Yes, they said today they would ship the item out last night, so I would see it in the FedEx system today. They sent me a FedEx tracking number, said they upgraded me to two day, still nothing in the system. So we are going on a week just the same as you, and have no further information about the order. it is a bit upsetting.

Hopefully I will see a working tracking number tonight. I would like to have my item in a fairly timely manner after spending nearly $100 on an item.

Lol it's pretty much been 3 full days now I've had my tracking number and it's still not working/active! USPS still haven't received it.

I also gave them over $100. Pathetic service after they talked themselves up and were quick to take our money. The product better be top notch otherwise it will be going straight on eBay and the review I shall leave here will be rather interesting.

Well I have updates!

My tracking number finally works! Unni upgraded me to 2 day FedEx shipping, and refunded $11 of my shipping charge. I can't be happier. Hopefully everything works out and the product is nice. Friday will tell all.

I can put a tracer on your package in the AM. If you do not receive your package by Friday, we can FEDEX International another at our cost. Sorry for the inconvenience. If you recieve the other after Friday, keep it as a back up.

Almost 2 weeks after making payment. My case arrived this morning. Customer service ranged from excellent, to at times non-existent.

Build quality of the case is extremely good, fits the phone like a glove. The colour I have is nice, though not sure if I'm completely happy with it or not, I'm fussy and change my mind all the time though so that's my problem.

The carbon fibre back plate is lovely and is a million times better then the overlays I had been using previously.

The case seems to have no effect on the signal, but I'm in central London so usually have a perfect signal anyway.

Now on to the downside. Apart from the default headphones, nothing fits! This is a major major problem for me. I don't use the default headphones, they are fairly crap. I've always used a good quality decent pair of headphones, I mean why wouldn't I seen as the iPhone 4 is a fabulous music player? The plug on the end of these headphones is still fairly slim but it won't fit in the socket any more because the hole in the case is no where near big enough. I've tried 3 different sets of headphones but only the default ones will fit.

This is a major major design flaw in my opinion and could well render the case completely useless to me. Unless I can find a quick solution then this case may well end up on eBay.

None the less here are some pics:

I am not having as good of luck with my case:

After receiving my Atomic case and carbon fiber skin / plate I find myself disappointed in the product for the money I spent. First it took me extra time to get an answer as to when the phone actually will ship and how it will ship. After a few days of it has shipped this day, no this day, no we are shipping today I finally get a tracking number, say the upgraded me to 2 day shipping, and that they will refund $11 of the $18 I paid for shipping.

Secondly the fit and finish of the actual case itself was fairly good. However there is some slop on the side plate that screws into the main of the unit. You can clearly see that it is slightly bowed out away from the phone. The surround of the case has many nicks and dings in it, you can tell these are not from machining and you can also see machine marks, nothing was sanded to a clean finish. This is something I would ensure was done if I was charging so much for a case. I am a mechanic by trade and do quite a bit of porting work on aluminum and cast parts and I would never let an item leave my shop with the kind of nicks and dings this has, or the unfinished machine marks.

I was also disappointed in the quality of the carbon fiber backing plate. I was expecting something more like a solid protective plate not just a 3M decal that provides nothing more than scratch protection. The 3M decal is very nice however, it fits properly, it feels like real carbon fiber, and does not scratch easily so I am happy with that. However it does not really provide any shock protection for the phone.

My last issue of concern on the case itself was that of signal. I installed the case while sitting about 2 feet from my AT&T Micro Cell. When I had my Griffin Case or my Apple Bumper on the phone I had full bars, actually full bars in my entire house. After installing the Atomic case I immediately lost 2 full bars of service. I did not believe this was possible, so I loosened the case up so it was not in direct contact with the phone and the bars came back to show full strength. So I took a piece of the clear plastic cover that was on the back of my phone previously, cut it down and lined around the outside edge of the phone with it so the case would not contact the surface of the phone. After doing this I got back 1 of my 2 bars of service. So it seems that because the case was built with out any padding inside of it that it is causing signal issues, almost like the "death grip".

I switched over to the Atomic case from my Griffin or my Apple Bumper because it looked rather nice from the pictures and it was available right away. Now after all the problems I had with shipping and the issues with the case itself I wish I held out for the Element Case or at least another week for a different color and possibly some fixes to the initial quality.

The black case was ok at the time, but just after I ordered Atomic released more colors such as the gunmetal or red which look to have a better finish. The black seems to enhance all the nicks and dings that came on mine as well as the machine marks. So needless to say I am less than happy with the case, however I have sold my others so it is my phone's only line of defense right now.

I have sent an e-mail directly to Atomic letting them know of my issues. I am hoping that they find a way to fix them and if they do I will make sure I post here to let everyone know the outcome.
My hopes are they:
1) Send out a replacement unit that has a better finish quality on it, possibly in a different color, and that does not have the fitment issue with the side piece.
2) Add some sort of padding to the inside of the case so it does not contact the phone directly, or include some sort of optional padding with the kit.
3) Hopefully would come up with an actual rear cover plate, something solid, to cover the rear of the phone. This may be a future addition to the design, but would only require the case be made slightly deeper, a recess for a carbon fiber hard shell to be slid in, and than screwed together.

1 & 2 would be my hope at least to fix the problems I have myself with the unit. #3 would be a nice addition to the case down the pipe.

I don't mean to bash, but right now these issues, as well as the customer service which as others have stated go from The BEST Ever, to at times non-existent need to be taken care of.

^ Actually after reading the post right above mine I tried out the headphones. I too am having similar problems with mine not fitting properly. Because it is soo far down most headphones with a 90 degree jack will not fit. However my adapter for my car which is direct has no issues. This is a HUGE problem for me as well, as well as many I feel who will buy this product.

Yeah I have that as well.

Does your case have a logo on it? To be honest I'm still undecided on the case, you and I both have had problems which is a shame as we were perhaps the first to order one. I wouldn't mind getting a different colour as well. But after the hassle with this one I'm not exactly that hot on the idea. The colours available now seem much nicer then what was available to us when we ordered.

At the end of the day perhaps we should of just waited for the vapour case.
