Apple has been looking for ways to counter the endless competition with Android devices, so now after the CES, rumors have been emerging that Apple is on its way of implementing 4G LTE on the iPhone 5 and next generation iPad. Remember that according to Nikkei Business CEO Tim Cook already had a couple of meetings with executives of Japanese wireless carrier NTT DoCoMo in order to discuss the devices. Following the discussions, a few dates leaked on-line announcing the iPad 3 hitting somewhere around summer, while the iPhone will be following in the fall.

Last year, Apple arranged for an early spring released for the iPad 2 and waited another six weeks until it unleashed the device on the Japanese market. Now, we’re hearing reports that the same is going to happen for the iPad 3. Because many costumers, were disappointed by the lack of LTE support on the iPhone 4S, the iPhone 5 is being now targeted as a void filler by the tech community. Even so, the iPhone 4S has been selling like crazy, unlike any other device Apple has been putting on the market, so that makes you wonder if the company can ever go wrong.

It sure sounds like a viable strategy, as more and more carriers are increasing the 4G LTE coverage across the United States, while others are launching spectacular and absorbing Android 4G devices. Apple just can’t sit by and observe without taking any real action.

“While Android (іѕ) still dominating thе LTE smartphone segment, Nokia аnd HTC hаνе launched LTE Windows Phone models, аnd Apple аnd RIM аrе expected tο release comparable models running οn thеіr οwn platforms іn thе second half οf 2012, indicated thе sources”, states a report from DigiTimes and we tend to agree.
