There are plenty of rumors going around about the iPhone 5, but the main one seems to be that the next generation iconic Apple device will have a brand new display of 4.08 inches. It will also incorporate the magnificent Retina Display with a resolution of 1,136 x 640 pixels.

According to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it will account for an increase of 26% in screen size. But, will this enlarged screen come in the way of people performing one-handed operations, like we have been doing so far? Kuo seems to think that Apple takes this feature seriously and that it is working on keeping such an important functionality available in the next generation device.

The width of the next iPhone has been set to 640 therefore the smartphone will turn out to be taller but not wider. It will benefit from a 16:9 ratio, the same ratio found in HDTVs and other HD screens alike. By using the 16:9 ratio Apple is ensuring that previous apps created for the older iPhone models can still be used on the new one.

Kuo also predicts that he doesn’t think Apple will ever expand the screen size beyond 4.08-inches because of battery life concerns. A chart released by the firm showcases that devices with a display larger than 4.3 inches would have to implement a bigger battery, one that would be much too beefy to offer an aesthetically pleasing look. Also, the analyst thinks that the new elongated shape of the phone will come in handy to those who spend long hours talking on the phone, as the mic would be situated closer to the mouth.
