According to a report on Re/code this weekend, Apple has been considering charging as much as $400 for the forthcoming wearable device.

Re/code’s sources say that there will be several different models with different pricing, with some costing considerably less than $400, thankfully!

Re/code’s John Paczkowski also reported that although Apple is expected to announce the new device on September 9, along with the iPhone 6, the gadget will not actually be available to buy until early 2015. And as Paczkowski notes, this is not an usual step for Apple, with even the first iPhone not being shipped until six months after it was launched.

And as Re/code also notes, the launch of the new wearable device will be the first new device category launch by Apple since the iPad in 2010, and that hasn’t gone too badly!

Just as with the iPad, and even the iPod before it, Apple is hoping to put its mark on a relatively new device category. It’s going to be very interesting to see exactly what it comes up with.
