App Store won't let me upgrade apps without completing credit card info???

My App Store won't let me download any FREE apps or upgrade already owned and downloaded apps until I "continue to billing information" where I have to fill in the "required fields".. I don't have a valid credit card and would assume you wouldn't need one to upgrade apps owned or download free apps from the App Store.. Do u need someones valid credit card on file "just in case"? that seems a little rediculous.. Someone please help!!

Go buy an Itunes gift card. They are available in most stores. Use that. When the balance depletes, get a new itunes gift card. I have been doing that for years with no issues.

You have partial data in the system and/or you have an outstanding balance on your account.

For partial data do the following: How to Remove a Credit Card From an iTunes Account

If you have an outstanding balance, you must pay it off first then do the above steps.

Might be that it was downloaded through another AppleID, or as Skull said, because of an outstanding balance
