Today I tried again and was pleasantly surprised when my phone began downloading the 7.1 update. I worked around the house and checked the phone peridodically as it showed varying degrees of progress.....5 hours remaining, then 4, then 3 then 5 again. But it seemed to continue over time and...

The only update option I get is 7.0.6. Also, I've been doing these routinely for nearly 2 years and it's always the same......extremely slow for the 4S (with numerous failures/retries before it finally works, and fast for the iPad. I'll try a different time at the library but not optimistic...

Once again sitting in a library with very good wifi. Updated iPad with iOS 7.0.6 as well as 15 app updates. Did it all in less than 10 minutes. The iphone, as usual, still "estimating time remaining" and showing little progress if any. Three apps updates are "waiting" and others.....who...

Wouldn't the "hard reset' be the one that gets rid of everything on the phone and I have to reload all the apps? That scares me! I deleted the Facebook app and the backup completed in about 5 minutes. That sure tells me something!

I hook up to the same fast wifi source in my local library and my iPad backs up within a minutes or so. My iPhone 4S, if the backup is successful at all, takes 45 minutes or an hour or more. Does anyone know why? Often I just get the message that the backup failed.

Sometime back I changed my 4S and locked the screen rotation....don't recall how I did it. I want to toggle that feature on and off and cannot find how to do that. I've read about the tiny curved arrow and lock depicted at the top of the screen. No amount of tapping on that icon or swiping...

Sorry....I should have posted this months ago but just plain forgot. After many reboots and time on the phone with Verizon, they agreed the problem was hardware. They mailed a refurbished phone to my intended destination and I returned the bad phone. Problem solved.

I have an iPhone 4S for a year. I know how to go to SETTINGS and toggle WIFI on and off. I don't use wifi a lot so generally keep it turned off. Today I'm in the public library, go to settings, try and toggle wifi on and nothing happens. The off will not turn to on. Like it's "greyed out"...

Okay. I turned off EVERYTHING in the iCloud and Gmail accounts, selected DELETE each time prompted; I toggled mail ON in Hotmail; toggled Mail, Contacts and Calendars ON in Exchange. Now I should automatically sync when I open both Hotmail (mail only) and Exchange (Gmail, Google Contacts and...

Interestingly, my iCloud, Hotmail and Exchange accounts have "Contacts" options. My Gmail account does not offer "Contacts" so I cannot toggle Gmail either on or off. Please tell me how sync is occurring without iTunes. Is it thru iCloud? If I just toggle everything OFF in iCloud settings...
