Do they eat the grapes if they're not protected?

Yes, they do. I remember that a few of the vineyards in my area were left without grapes, after a flock of starlings had taken care of it, a few years ago.

It was. I was surprised, it was cloudy, with almost no sunshine.

It was certainly strong.
I was on my way home when the storm started. I had to drive slowly. Around my village, I could see something that looked like large areas of smoke. It was the soil, blown up by the storm, rising towards the sky.

Back in the 60's I was on a construction project near the town of Mendocino, California. It was/is known for its 'hippie' population among other things.

One evening I dropped into a local bar for a drink and there was a gal sitting there who looked like this FROM THE FRONT! Some guy reached over and parted her hair with his hands and was surprised to find her face covered with all sorts of psychedelic designs.

I don't know if they were tattoos or just drawn on with something but she evidently didn't want to remove them (if she could) just to go to the bar.

We all had a good laugh at her.....

No, she’s the local MLA for my constituency. The park is a 30 second walk from my front door.
