Music on iphone?

I have a lot of music on my computer and have sent it to my iphone through itunes. Can I remove the stored music on my c drive now that it is in itunes to save or get more space on my poor old laptop?

as long as you dont have music to Sync becasue during the sync it will want to match the music with your lap top library and the ipod library

also you need special software if you ever wanted to put it back on your laptop from your iphone
