Lifting numbers straight to phone

I received an e-mail with a phone number and it wasn't highlighted. How do I lift or copy and paste a phone number straight to dialing the number? How do I jump between apps? I try to go from reading kindle to some other deal I'm working on but don't want the middle step of pressing the home button. I want to go directly between any two apps.

To copy and paste just hold press down on the screen for a bit and you'll be able to select the txt that you want and copy it. Pasting is the same way. If you have the corresponding app open double tap the home button to change apps. There is no other way to avoid the home button unless you're jailbroken and using activator shortcuts.
