How to get pre IOS5 photos off 3GS and onto pc

As the subject line says, anyone any ideas on how I do this?

Photos taken post IOS5 are doing the iCloud/photo stream thing but anything I took before won't transfer.

When you "sync the iPhone," is that an "Apple thing" that does the "sync" work?
And does that involve some software that is copying the photos from the iPhone to the computer's disk?
If so, make sure you know where the "sync" has put the photos on your disk.
Then, in Picasa, do a Tools -> "Folder Manager..." menu choice and make sure the parent folder where the "sync" stuff is putting photos is set to "Scan Always".
