How much of your phone memory space is taken by "OTHER"

When i connect my device to itune, i can read on summary table
Audio ...GB
Photo ...GB
Apps ...GB
Books ...GB
Other ...0.61GB which is 610MB???
Free ...GB

Do you have such an amount of memory taken by "other" on your iDevice?

I always assumed everyone did; I believe that is the space taken up by the OS.

i realized, it is the wallpaper, stock ringtones, sms tones and other system files.

Why does it vary then? some times 20mb and some times "other" can take up to 4bg, and even after removing musics and pics and videos from the device, "other" doesn't free some spaces. I still have 600mb taken by "other" no matter what i do.

Other is settings, the OS, artwork, texts, etc and is on all iPhones. The 'normal' range seems to be from about 0.1Gb to 1GB. If it gets much larger than that, the only way to change it is to resync and/or Restore.
