Help needed for iphone 3GS - backup n deleted contacts

Hi, I m holding to a iPhone 3GS. Have recently encountered some problems: -
1) I syncd my phone n run backup. After backing up, a message pop up '... D backup couldn't be saved in ur computer.
2) I have deleted some contacts in my 3GS n apparently all deleted contacts restore into my phone again when I sync my phone.
3) how can I backup message?

What messages are you trying to back up,email or your text?

I was trying to backup notes n SMS.. But not able to do so...
As for my contacts, there are too many duplicated, I did clear on my phone. But each time I restore, all d old contacts appear on d phone again..
