Hi all, first post and I'm not any sort of techie genius.

When I clicked on a link, say from one of my emails I would get the choice of opening it with google or safari.

I also got the choice not to be asked this again which I did, expecting safari to be the browser chosen but this has not been the case.

Links open in google with the option to change to safari with the safari icon in the bottom right hand corner.

I'd like to change this back so that everything opens with safari and get rid of google.

Can anyone help at all?

Safari is Apple's browser. Google is a search engine. You can choose whether to use Google, Bing, Yahoo or DuckDuckGo, but you have to use one of them as Safari is not a search engine.

Does this happen when using the Gmail app? In Gmail you can choose to open email links in Google Chrome or Safari but the default browser for iOS as a whole is Safari and can't be changed.

Welcome to iPhone Forums, Baldymonster!

If you use the Gmail app, go to Settings:

There, select Google Apps:

Then change the choice for your browser by tapping the one you prefer:

These screenshots are from an iPad, this will look slightly different on an iPhone, but the procedure is the same.

Hope that helps.
