Nope. Just makes the sound much louder. No distortion at all. You can really hear the difference with headphones on tho. Just for the fun of it I typed in 10.0 saved and rebooted and it was ridiculous. You wouldn't believe how sound you can pump out of them little speakers. But I would say for every day use to just go with a "1.0" setting. That's what I use. It makes a big difference. And if it does not work then you have to change the permissions of that plist. I dont really remember tho, I only had to do that once. It's either 0755 or 0775.
