Google has updated YouTube's mobile site in the rest of the world outside the US from Flash to HTML5. Pocket-lint reports that although the service has been available within the States since July, the rest of the world has had to wait until now. “We tried to make it so snappy and so fast, but run in any browser across platforms,” Andrey Doronichev, YouTube’s mobile product manager, told Pocket-lint.

Google says that the new YouTube HTML5 website is designed to be consistently fast and reliable across all mobile devices, including the iPod touch and iPad.

The YouTube mobile site, which can be accessed by pointing your phone's browser to m.youtube.com, is now supposed to be very fast, and designed to make it much easier to view videos “on-the-go”, with lots of snazzy new features added, including search query suggestions, the option to create playlists, and being able to “favourite” a video directly from your phone.
