World of Goo Coming Soon to iPhone

World of Goo, the smash-hit, award-winning indie WiiWare, PC/Mac/Linux and iPad puzzle game is about to be unleashed on the iPhone and iPod touch, according to a posting on developer 2D Boy’s blog. The game was previously supposed to be coming to the iPhone in 2009, but due to technical problems, contractor wrangles and the iPhone’s smaller screen, it just didn’t happen, and went straight to the iPad instead, with its larger screen. 2D Boy addresses the “size matters” issue in the blog post:

“Screen size was our biggest concern too. But against all expectations, the size of the screen was not much of an obstacle at all. After a few minutes of playing, my feeble brain doesn’t even notice anymore. Even so, we’ve added pinch-zooming for those days when your fingers are feeling fat.”

We don’t have any pictures or video of the iPhone version yet, but it should look pretty similar to the video above!

According to the blog post, the game should be released sometime in March to the App Store, and will run on iPhone 4, 3GS and equivalent Touch models.
