There should be no problems with whatever identical accounts you set up on two devices. The account will be accessible from both devices and works fine for me.

i use one account for both.

Using one account means you can sync music, books (and bookmarks), email, calendar etc. across both of them. I do my iPad and iPhone this way too, I would guess most people with more than one device do.

I use different email acc on ipad and iphone. However I have those two acc on my mac desktop too. Feel this way won't cause redundance between ipad and iphone, yet everything is covered by my mac desktop.
