I've had a jail broken iphone version 5.1.1, and decided to update to IOS 6. iTunes has been automatically backing up my iphone, but when I updated to IOS 6 I wasn't able to set up a new iphone from back up thus losing access to all of my pictures, contacts, messages, and more...

I assume I couldn't do it because the iphone was backed up while jail broken, but the fact that THERE IS a back up makes me believe there's some way I can access it and regain my files.

Thank you for the help!

I'm pretty sure all you need to do is plug your iPhone into your computer, click on the device and then "restore back up." Now I am not versed in jailbreak so I might be wrong but that's what I would do.

I thought you had to unjailbreak before you load the new firmware, but I could be wrong. There are also sights where you can download a fresh 5.1.1 , just google it and I am sure you will find it. I am waiting on going to the new firmware until I know it is stable and worth doing. YMMV
