Unlocking with code provided by network

I requested for my iphone to be unlocked from my network and today i have received the details that i can now unlock it. It gives me the instructions.
Im currently on a 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak and would like to remain on this but the instructions say that i need to update to the latest version for the unlock to take place and also restore my iphone. What do i have to do before i update to 5.1 so that i can get back onto the 5.0.1 jailbreak?

It doesn't matter what firmware you are on. The only thing you need to worry about is if you hacktivated the phone, you will need to deactivate the phone with Redsn0w before the unlock will go through.
