Which is better the tomtom or the garmin? Or is there a different one that is better?

Why don't you just download all the free GPS navigation apps and try them all. The one you like the best you keep, and delete the others. Everyone will all have their own preferences to navigation & only you will know which one you like. As there all free they'll be no loss! Good luck

NavFree is totally free. You do not need to use your 3G. It uses the GPS just like a regular gps. I tried it and it is ok, not as good as a commercial unit like Garmin, but if my Garmin dies, I use it.

I use Navigon and love it. I have tried TomTom and many others but always go back to Navigon. Price is a little high but once you buy it you get all the updates and stuff.
