Judging by Apple CEO Tim Cook’s comments about OLED screens today, it doesn’t look likely that any Apple devices will be getting one any time soon. According to AppleInsider, Cook made the references to OLED screen tech (used by Samsung in its Galaxy S3 phone) in a keynote interview to launch the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference today. Cook went as far as to say that OLED colour saturation is “awful”. He added that Apple wants to have the best display, “and I think we’ve got it,” referring to the Retina display. Speaking more generally, Cook said that Apple focused more on the overall iOS experience, rather than individual specs, such as processor size. “Do you know the speed of an AX Processor? You probably don’t. Does it matter? You want a fantastic experience,” said the Apple CEO. In what turned out to be a very informative interview, Cook also talked about screen size, and unlike on previous occasions, when asked about Apple launching an iPhone with a larger screen, he didn’t exactly rule it out, saying, “I don’t want to say what we will do or won’t do.”
