Spotify announced today that it is finally available in the US, along with its companion iPhone/iPad and iPod touch app. The PC and Mac music sharing programme makes it as easy as possible to share your favourites with your friends. All you have to do is drag and drop a song that you like to your friends, or share the music with them via Facebook, Twitter, email and SMS. Viewing someone’s Spotify profile will enable you to see their top tracks, artists and playlists, as well as subscribe to their playlists. The Spotify app works in tandem with Spotify on your computer, enabling you to wirelessly sync your MP3 playlists so that you can listen offline, and you can also subscribe to Spotify Premium via the app, which gives you access to Spotify’s catalogue of over 15 million tracks. Other features of the app include the ability to “star” your favourite tracks, scrobble tracks to Last.fm, and receive music from friends via the app’s inbox.

Daniel Ek, Founder and CEO of Spotify, said: “We believe that music is the most social thing there is and that’s why we’ve built the best social features into Spotify for easy sharing and the ultimate in music discovery. Even if you aren’t a total music freak, chances are you have a friend who is and whose taste you admire. I’m looking forward to connecting with some of you in Spotify and discovering some cool new tracks.”
