sounds , ring volume and clicks

Complete novice but for some reason the ringing volume is mute plus the unlock is mute when opened and when text is sent the volume mute also, have tried everything , i have obviously muted this i phone 4 but i have gone into sounds and no luck there, can someone solve ?

Did the mute button on the left side above the volume buttons get switched on?
