SMS Background picture resolution?

I have an Iphone 5. I have followed various methods on the internet to change the background of my sms application. I have successfully changed it, but no matter what I do, the background does not fill the screen. I am hoping to get some help from someone around here who might know how to pull this off. Anyone know what the resolution should be. I have tried 320 x 480 and 570 x 570. Any help appreciated!!

For an iPhone 5, you will need to use an image that is 960 x 960 in size.

Yes. In order to change the background of the Message app, you have to be jail broken. Then, you can either change the background manually or by purchasing a theme that changes the background for you.
