I just got a new screen put on my phone yesterday and now my screen randomly goes black and my phone doesn't respond. The weird thing is after the screen goes black if I hit the lock button it makes the sound of the phone locking even though the screen is completely black. Anyone have any idea how to fix this? I also just updated to IOS 9.3.5 yesterday so that could be cause this issue as well.

This sounds like a hardware issue. It could be a faulty display. ifixit.com would be a reliable site to get a new one.
