iDownload Blog reports on a story from Chinese blog Feng that says that the next iPhones, most likely the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will have a sharper Retina display than the current iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus thanks to a screen resolution boost.

Feng says that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6s will have a full HD screen that will match the 1,920 by 1,080 Full HD pixel resolution of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus.

In turn, the forthcoming iPhone 6s Plus will be on a par with high-end Android phones with a 2K Retina screen.

And while the exact resolution of the iPhone 6s Plus is not given, 2K resolution usually means a horizontal resolution of 2,000 pixels, or possibly even more than that, as some Android devices have what is often referred to as “Quad HD,” with an ultra-high resolution of 2,560 by 1,440 pixels.

With such an upgrade it should mean that you get a discernibly sharper image on your iPhone 6s Plus when looking at photos or when watching Full HD content. A Full HD display with a higher resolution should also make it possible to show more content.

It wouldn't serve any useful purpose. Once the pixels are too small to see with the naked eye, making them smaller yet won't make the picture appear any sharper. This would be a waste of time and money on the part of Apple.
