Replacement iPhone 4 from Apple - Locked?

I just had my iphone 4 replaced with a new one at an Apple shop as mine had died. They transferred what data was on there - I already made my own back-up and restored the phone.
I just tried an 02 sim and when connected to iTunes it said Sim incompatible.. My old phone was previously locked to Voda. Would they have re-locked the new phone to Voda?

Yeah, I think that they re lock the new iPhone to Vodafone. It's too easy for Apple to replace a factory locked phone into a factory unlocked iPhone. So get your Vodafone sim in it and it will work.
