Rumors that Apple has been planning to build a low cost iPhone have been circling the Internet for some time now. Only recently did they intensify and not a week goes by without a novelty about the cheaper Apple smartphone popping up. Let’s hear the latest, as it was reported by Macotakara.

Actually, it’s more than a rumor, it’s a full video showcasing a case for the upcoming design. According to the Japanese blog, the accessory shown in the vid features a thicker frame compared to the one we see now in the iPhone 5.Macotakara actually performed measurements to see the difference and the conclusion was that the cheaper iPhone case is 2 mm thicker. As the person showcasing the case in the video turns it around, one can spot the space that will most likely accommodate a rear-facing camera with flash, the volume buttons and the mute switch located on the left side.

Another interesting aspect is that the edges of the case seem to be curved. Back in January, iLounge reported that the low cost iPhone will adopt iPod design cues which includes the curvatures mentioned above. Things seem to be slowly adding up in the cheaper iPhone story.

Overall, I really liked the design of the accessory that features a fun colorful mosaic like artwork. Nevertheless, the difference between the two devices is negligible, which is demonstrated in the vid, as the person tries to fit the iPhone 5 in the colorful case and succeeds without hardships.
