Playlists question

In the playlists section, there is a 90's Music playlist that is default. All of my music from the 90's was put in there automatically. If I create a playlist, and call it Hip Hop, why doesn't all my Hip Hop music get put in there automatically?

You need to create a "smart playlist" and set the genre to hip hop...

That can be done on the iPhone, or do I have to do it in iTunes?

On the iPhone, the most you could do is play a hip hop song, tap the album artwork, and press the middle button under the bar that shows where the song is at.
In iTunes, you could create a playlist and add music manually.
