Not the airport I landed at.
This is in the museum boathouse behind the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax.
Samuel Cunard, founder of the Cunard line.
Filling in the excavation for a failed building project. The cost to fill the hole will be about 3.3 million dollars which will be added to the property tax bill.

I suppose they started their project, and then had to stop for want of money, or something like that? Do you know what this was supposed to become?
The developer has a history of not finishing projects and is currently bankrupt. The building was originally supposed to be completed by 2012. I don’t think they ever had the money to complete the project.
The building was supposed to be the tallest building in Saskatchewan with condos on the upper floors and a hotel on the lower floors.

It would have been spectacular, certainly worth a visit. I do understand why it must have been tempting to give someone with that background the permission to start the project.
So this hole has been there for at least 7 years?
No, it’s only been there since 2015, as the start of construction was repeatedly delayed. No work has been done since September 2017.
