The Pebble Smartwatch was all the rage when it first started shipping earlier this year. Folks who were able to get their hand on one, know just how cool it is to have a wearable Bluetooth device connected to an iPhone. Numerous amounts of watch-faces can be downloaded (from the Pebble app, or 3rd-party sources), the watch can receive notifications, as well as playing games like Tetris. The Pebble is one hell of a conversation starter.

The folks at Pebble have just announced that the company has surpassed 275,000 smartwatch pre-orders. Some customers are still waiting on theirs to arrive, but the team has reported that these orders will be fulfilled in the coming weeks.

Apart from the numbers, Pebble was proud to announce today that a "major new feature" on iOS will arrive in a few weeks.

“A major new feature on iOS will be available within 2-3 weeks. The feature has been lacking since launch: support for email notifications. At first, our testing with iOS 6 indicated that the built-in Bluetooth notification system would be able to send notifications Pebble. Unfortunately, that system only could reliably send SMS and iMessage to Pebble (ironically something we did not promise to support). We’ve finally cracked the email puzzle and the next Pebble iOS app will have full support for Gmail and IMAP email notifications.”

The new feature remains a secret, but Pebble smartwatch owners should be excited.
