Madfinger Games has released some cracking in-game footage of its forthcoming iOS game Samurai II: Vengeance, the sequel to Samurai: Way of the Warrior. Samurai: Way of the Warrior was featured by Apple as one of 2009’s best games, and now Madfinger Games is aiming to top that with the release of the sequel on October 21st. The stylized manga graphics and gory gameplay of the original were popular with both critics and fans alike, and judging by the in-game footage shown here, the sequel brings fans very much more of the same. Madfinger spent over a year working on the development of Samurai II, and you can see the result of that work in the videos below, with non-stop action running at 60 frames per second, and vibrantly optimised for the Retina display and iPad screen.

Madfinger says that it has also taken on board the views of fans when it came to improving gameplay in Samurai II, introducing a new virtual d-pad, dynamic camera, environmental puzzles, traps and lots of deadly new enemies. The all-new story sees Daisuke undertaking a quest for vengeance against his nemesis, Orochi, across war-torn countryside, visiting many different locations including a seaside village, a flying fortress and the legendary Isle of the Dead. The footage is looking fantastic, can’t wait for the finished game.
