Eric Savitz reports on Forbes’ The Tech Trade blog today that according to Jefferies & Co. analyst Peter Misek, Apple’s iPhone launch in September will be for a device called the iPhone 4S, and not the iPhone 5. Misek also says that the phone is unlikely to be LTE. In Misek’s research note, he says that the new iPhone will only have “minor cosmetic changes,” such as a better camera, an A5 dual-core processor, and support for HSPA. Misek adds that industry sources suggest that Apple will be bringing Sprint, and T-Mobile on board as new carriers in time for the holiday season, with China Mobile following within the next 12 months. Misek goes on to explain that the lack of LTE in the new device is down to the Qualcomm LTE chipset that Apple intended to use not achieving enough yields to warrant its inclusion in the new handset.

Finally, Misek says that according to demand trends, the iPad is still going great guns, but iPhone sales have gone a little “flat” due to “slowing” at AT&T and Vodafone.

I had a feeling this would be the case. It makes sense, after all the 3GS was a hardware-upgraded 3G. The iPhone 5 will likely be a complete redesign.

i think the antenna will change but not much after that. the iphone 4S.. sounds better then 5 that will have the A5 chip

idk about most of you but it cheapens the phone by being available on Sprint and T-mobile. keeping in mind T-mobile probably won't be around come holiday season if the FCC approves the merger.
