AppleInsider reports today on a new story on Japanese Apple blog Macotakara, which says that according to a reliable source, Apples next iPhone will not be released until September or October 2012, and that Apple intends to maintain this new release cycle of a fall launch for the iPhone for years to come. This goes against another recent rumour that had Apple reverting back to the June/July schedule to release the next iPhone this year. Last year Apple broke with its previous June/July iPhone launch pattern by releasing the iPhone 4S in October. No particular reason for this change in release pattern by Apple was provided by Macotakaras source, but AppleInsider points out that releasing a new iPhone so close to the holiday season clearly really worked for Apple last year, a masterstroke resulting in Apple shifting record numbers of iPhones, 37 million to be exact, in that all-important holiday quarter.
