Iphone Won't power up

I do apologize if this question was asked already but I need help. I recently bought an Iphone 1st generation off of ebay. It worked fine until I went to charge it. I put it in a charging dock and the Iphone got really hot and powered off. I was able to cool it off and It refuses to power up, I tried a hard reset and that didnt work. Any suggestions on what might be causing it to not power up.

Yikes! I would do everything I could to get my money back from that eBay transaction! Heat like that denotes damage which is probably irreversible. Get back here if you find a resolution.
