Apple today announced, not only the flagship iPhone 5S, but also the lower cost iPhone 5C, replacing the iPhone 5. While the iPhone 5C is initially the iPhone 5 in a new polycarbonate plastic body design, Bloomberg speculates that the device will add a huge sales boost to T-Mobile.
T-Mobile has been stuck at America's number 4 mobile carrier, but with the company's new "no contract" initiative, the iPhone 5C could boost sales. The wireless carrier currently allows users to upgrade devices more frequently and off-contract for an extra $10 a month. Customers are able to walk into a T-Mobile store and pick up a new device without paying a dime and simply paying off the device over several months in increments.
Now that the iPhone 5C is available at a lower cost off-contract, and even lower on-contract, judging by the 1.1 million subscribers T-Mobile gained in Q2 the 5C could be the phone the carrier needed.

Assuming it is a lower-priced iPhone, it should, in theory, benefit T-Mobile more than the others, Cote Collaborative industry strategist Michael Cote tells Bloomberg. If you look at the rate of people leaving AT&T for T-Mobile, the ratio is already bad, and this could exacerbate that.
