iPhone 4S iOS 5 iMessage not working

I'm trying to get the iMessage to work, but it's not working!! I tried resetting the network settings and toggling iMessage on and off. My friend has an iPhone 4 and when i message him the blobs are green. I believe the blobs for iMessage should be blue? Anyone having the same problem??

P.S. I set up my own contact under the settings.

I have the opposite problem. My iMessage works, but anyone that does not have iOS5 is not receiving my Text Messages.

One Android user isnt recieving my messages...idk why because I get hers.
