What is a "thread"?

I am trying to transfer my contact (address book) from my Palm Tungsten T2, to my iPhone 4. Have tried unsuccessfully and Apple has been no help. I am using Outlook Express for my email, not Microsoft Outlook.

Any suggestions?

Post the actual error message? A thread can be a lot of things.
