Iphone 4 problem

Hello! I am new to this forum and am looking forward in learning more about the iPhone 4 I am at the moment having trouble with lost contacts and when they were backed up and put back on my phone It added e-mail addresses and not phone Numbers. When I try to re enter all my phone numbers It throws all of them Into a text form and won't just call the number. Can someone help me with this problem? Thanks Voosch
