Iphone 4 Cycling --No Service--Searching--Normal

First let me say that no towers are down in my area, and that my wife's phone is working properly. My software is up to date. For the past couple of days my phone is cycling between normal, searching, and No Service. This is making my phone almost impossible to use. What are my options? Is it the phone, software, or what? I got the phone in July, and SIM card does not make a difference. Please help.
