how to get ringtones onto iphone4

i just bought an iphone4. and im trying to get my ringtones off of my sd card onto the iphone how do i do that? im new to this whole iphone thing

Extract them from your SD, then sync them over with iTunes

Straight off of Apple's discussion forums.

Before you do anything, you'll need to have the ringtones in your iTunes library. To do so, simply extract them from your SD, select the ringtones you want to transfer over (click and drag to highlight) then drag and drop them into your iTunes library. Then you can start with the "right click and go to Get Info" as described in the discussion.

You said they're on your SD card. What's the file format for the ringtones? MP3? AAC?
