Hello.

Recently, got my iPhone 6 fixed but sadly, they couldn't fix the fingerprint scanner hardware. Now to my knowledge, if I am to update my phone via iTunes it will brick because of the hardware failure.

But does it still brick if I update it via the phone itself?

Thanks in advance.

If Touch ID no longer works, you can just use your password instead.
So I can update my phone without it bricking? Just to elaborate it more, the finger print scanner doesn't work.

It's possible to update the iPhone over the air (via Settings - General - Software Update on your iPhone). After an update, you'll have to enter the passcode anyway.

Without Touch ID, the home button works just like it did on the iPhone 5 and earlier. Another consequence of the malfunctioning Touch ID is that you can no longer use Apple Pay.
