Depends...if you are jailbroken, then generally yes.

If your not jailbroken then no.

However I have no idea what your talking about by "the sound" is faint. The sound of what. There is not one set volume for everything.

Do you mean the "ringer" or the "music" or the "alerts sounds"?

If it is the music, you can jack the volume up real high with iTunes by editing the songs on your phone.

i'm sorry,when someone replies or sends ya an im.............you can barely here it ding,unlike my 3gs where it was way noticeable....not jailbroken

This may sound a silly question but:

Have you checked Settings> Sounds to verify the volume is turned up the whole way? Also is "Change With Buttons" disabled?
