Erase Search Memory??

When I slide to the right to the first screen where you can search your phone, everything shows up when I type in the first letter such as apps, contacts and songs etc. What I don't understand is why it is bringing up old texts that no longer exist. Its just the first sentence but its from a text that was deleted long ago. Any way to delete them permanently? Thanks

You can go to Settings>General>Spotlight Search and check or uncheck items you don't want as part of the Spotlight Search..
